ArchX

Your AI agent for permits, bids and construction administration.

ArchX by FrontierX is the AI agent for architecture firms in the United States. You give it the task and the project files. It reads, measures, calculates, operates programs and writes the finished files – on your Mac or Windows PC.

Works with the files your firm already uses

  • PDF
  • Word
  • Excel
  • PowerPoint
  • DXF
  • IFC
  • Scans
  • Audio

You give the task. The agent does the work.

An AI agent opens your documents, uses the right tools and writes the files. You don’t explain every step.

Codes and permits

The code in force on your filing date.

ArchX resolves the authority having jurisdiction for each discipline, selects the code editions in force on your filing date, attaches the local amendments and screens ADA, FHA, ABA and HUD Section 504 separately. Your evidence goes into an editable permit review matrix.

Example projectCity of Houston, filing date October 11, 2026: the 2021 Houston Construction Code family with Houston amendments, in force since January 1, 2024, and a matrix of 10 review rows from zoning to HUD Section 504.

Dimensions and quantities

Feet and inches. Exact to the fraction.

ArchX reads architectural dimensions like 12′-3½″ exactly, converts lengths, areas and volumes with exact factors and calculates takeoffs that keep every dimension, deduction and source sheet. Waste is added only at the rate you state.

Example project20′ × 10′ less a 3′ × 7′ opening: 179 sq ft net and 187.95 sq ft with the stated 5% waste. 12′-3½″ read as exactly 147½ inches, 3.7465 m.

Costs and bids

Every bid on the same basis.

ArchX recalculates every bid and keeps the submitted total beside the checked sum, levels scope with the adjustments you approve and turns open exclusions into questions for the bidders. Cost plans in USD keep base, current, forecast and budget apart.

Example projectTwo bids checked and leveled: the complete bid ranked, the bid with open scope kept out of the ranking with a follow-up question to the bidder.

Construction administration

RFIs, changes and pay apps. In order.

ArchX keeps your RFI, submittal and change logs from the actual records, drafts the outgoing response for your review and checks every pay application against the contract: approved change orders in, pending changes out, retainage at the rate in your agreement.

Example projectA pay application checked line by line: the approved contract sum with a pending change kept outside, 10% retainage on work completed and stored, and the current amount due by arithmetic.

Phases and specifications

Every deliverable. Every spec section.

ArchX checks your phase deliverables against the scope of services in your agreement, audits the project manual for unresolved options, editor’s notes and missing cross-references and starts a living submittal register from your specifications.

Example projectProject manual and schematic deliverables checked: an open owner selection, a referenced section missing from the manual, a shop drawing submittal and a drawing index without a file, each with its source line.

Files in. Finished files out.

ArchX works in your project folder. It reads what is there, does the work and saves editable files you can open, change and send.

The task, as ArchX starts it

“Prepare a code and permit review for this project. First establish the city, state or territory, authority having jurisdiction (AHJ), project scope and review date. Verify the adopted code editions, local amendments and permit requirements against current official sources …”

ArchX U.S. edition · Example project · Oct 11, 2026

It knows how U.S. projects run.

Specialist knowledge for U.S. practice is built in. Every code fact names its official source and the date it was read; your agreement and your documents decide the rest.

Code adoption

The edition on your filing date.

A model code is law only once adopted. ArchX selects by AHJ, filing date and transition rules, with local amendments kept separate.

Federal overlays

ADA, FHA, ABA, Section 504.

Screened apart from the local permit, with a precise question wherever a project fact is missing.

Land use

Zoning apart from building.

Houston has no zoning and still reviews plats, setbacks, parking and floodplain. ArchX keeps that review open.

Sources

Dated official sources.

Every code fact carries its official source, the date it was read and the date to check it again.

Units

The international foot.

Exactly 0.3048 m, exact fractions down to 1/1024 inch. A survey foot only with its datum.

Takeoffs

Gross, net, waste.

Every dimension, deduction and count with its sheet. Waste only at the rate you state.

Bids

Submitted, checked, leveled.

Three totals per bid, approved adjustments only and a question for every open scope.

Cost plans

Base, current, forecast, budget.

Separate totals, rounding to the cent per line, contingency and escalation only with a stated basis.

Pay applications

Approved changes only.

Pending changes stay outside the contract sum; retainage at the rate and basis in your agreement.

RFIs and submittals

An RFI is not a change order.

A response never authorizes cost or time; a submittal status has the effect your contract gives it.

Specifications

Your project manual, as written.

CSI numbers and titles stay as supplied; open options and missing references flagged with the line.

Documents

Letter size. U.S. English.

Word and Excel in en-US with U.S. dates and numbers, saved as new revisions next to the raw source.

An agent, not a chatbot.

ArchX works on your computer the way your team does: it opens programs, uses the browser, looks things up and writes the files.

On your computer

  • Operates your programs with computer control: clicks, types, scrolls and uses the menus.
  • Opens web pages in its own Chrome or Edge window, reads them, clicks and fills in forms.
  • Researches products, regulations and background, and gives the sources.
  • Finds what you agreed in earlier projects and conversations.

From your words

  • Takes dictation and meeting recordings; speech recognition runs on your computer.
  • Turns notes into minutes with decisions, actions, owners and dates.
  • Creates visualizations from a description and edits images precisely, with your ChatGPT account.
  • Writes reports, letters and tables as Word, PDF or Excel.
